Located on two waterfront acres in a quiet, suburban setting, A River's Edge B & B is a relaxing getaway from the rush and hurry of everyday life. This intimate inn is nestled beside a winding bayou with it's own private island as a backdrop. Guests tend to spend hours poolside soaking up the tranquility, birdwatching or rocking peacefully on the back porch, catching up on a good book.

Our Location
Our lodging is located in Westlake, just seven minutes from downtown Lake Charles and the riverboat casinos and five minutes from Interstate 10. Houston is two hours west, Lafayette is an hour east. Baton Rouge, New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast are just hours further east.

Pampering's Our Specialty
From the moment of your arrival, you will be greeted by extraordinary hospitality and thoughtfulness. Your host Bill will show you to your room, pointing out the bathroom, the remote for the ceiling fan, the emergency exit, etc. as your hostess (Wanda) prepares a refreshments tray overflowing with tropical smoothies, fresh home made cookies, cold cuts, cheese and crackers all in your honor. On cold winter days, you'll be greeted by the crackle of a warm fire and the smell of hot cocoa and warm cookies.

Common Area Goodies
Just beyond the formal dining room is a library stocked with novels, videotapes, cassette tapes, TV, VCR and the local daily newspaper, all available for your enjoyment.

Bedtime Treats
When it's time to turn in for the night, don't be surprised if your bed sheets have been turned down with Godiva chocolates and Mardi Gras beads on your pillow. This is Louisiana after all.

Luxurious Gourmet Breakfast
Wanda offers a flexible breakfast time to suit your schedule. Regardless when you eat, you can look forward to a full American breakfast, Choose from French Toast and fruit or a Captain's Casserole with home made bread. Fresh juice and coffee complete the meal, which can be enjoyed from your bed, the formal dining room, the Great Room, the rear porch or poolside.

Entertaining Conversation
A retired sea salt who faithfully served his country, Bill can regale you with amusing stories about tin can destroyers and insightful interactions with former heads of state. Their life experiences have given Bill and Wanda a deep respect for people from all walks of life.

Did You Say Honeymooners?
Being a hopeless romantic at heart, Wanda loves to go all out for newlyweds. If you give her notice, expect extra special treatment including chilled sparkling refreshments served in fluted crystal with imported chocolates on the side.

Rooms & Rates
We offer two guest rooms in the main house and a private, self-contained cabana just beside the swimming pool. All rooms rent by the day, week or month. Following are more details.

Main House Guestrooms
The Rose Tea Room is located at the front of the house. It is lovingly furnished in tasteful antiques which have been handed down through generations of Bill and Wanda's families. The full size bed is very comfortable and the en suite private bath contains a large walk in closet.
Price per night: $100 + 4.5% tax

The Sunshine Room is just off the large great room in the center of the main house. It is furnished with two twin beds, cheerful white wicker nightstands and chairs. The private bath for this room is in the hall just outside the room.
Price per night: $75 + 4.5% tax

The Poolside Cabana

The cabana is known as the Captain's Cottage; it is suitable for up to 4 adults and is fully contained with a sitting area, mini fridge, microwave, TV, private bath, queen size bed and a hide-a-bed.
Price per night: $125 + 4.5% tax

Directions
We are located 2 miles off I-10. Take exit 27 (Westlake Exit). At Sampson Street ( Hwy. 378), turn left. Turn right at the first stoplight (Sulphur Street) and continue to the stop sign. Turn left on Miller. After you drive over a small bridge across a bayou, look on your left for River Oaks Dr. Turn onto River Oaks and continue to the end of the street.
